On monday a few distance runners traveled over to Washington Twp. highschool for a dual meet. East lost the meet 83-52, but still had some decent races. In the 1600 Chris Dinh and Damon Glatz took 2nd and 3rd. Damon set a Pr of 4:47 and Chris had a season best of 4:46. In the 800 Craig Fishbein finshed 2nd with a PR of 2:04.5. Than in the 3200 John Arnold tied his season best of 10:17 and took 2nd place while Scott Zhao placed 3rd. To wrap up the meet East ran a Distance 4x400 in the JV heat. It was on the only East Jv team, which was up aganst 7 washington twp. teams. They ended up takeing first in 3:49; the splits were Damon 61.6, Chris 56.6, Tony Chen 57.6, and Craig with a 54.1.
Today Most of the younger guys on the distance team comepted in the Cherokee Invite. In the 1600 Steve Omari placed 6th to earn a medal. Steve also PR'ed by 9 seconds to run a time of 4:46. In 7th was Josh Elkan who ran a 11 second PR with a time of 4:48. Also PR'ing in the 1600 was Andrew Berger and Ricky Zhao. In the 3200 freshmen DJ Rodriguez ran a huge PR placing 2nd with a time of 10:47. Also earning medals in the 3200 were freshmen Russell Beatty and Rob Cooper taking 5th and 6th place.
Tomorrow 7 distance guys will compete in the 50th annual Olympic Conference meet at pennsauken.
