East Vs. Cherokee

On Tuesday, East hosted a dual meet against Cherokee High School. The weather for the day was fair, with cool winds slightly brushing against the track. East knew that Cherokee was going to be a tough competitor, and prepared themselves for some grueling races.
In the 1600m race, Nate Burt took 2nd with a time of 4:45. Cherokee runners took 1st and 3rd. Highlights of the race were Tim Dinh's PR of 4:54, Tony Chen's 5:02, and Mike Liachowitz's 5:07, and Jason Klein's 5:09.
In the 800m, the first lap was taken out in a grueling 58 seconds, and from there gaps began to form. A Cherokee runner took 1st place, with Keith Johnson getting a close 2nd with a time of 2:02. That puts Keith on the Cherry Hill East Living Legengds board. Following behind in 3rd was Max Cohler in a time of 2:08.
In the 3200m race, it seemed as if noone was interested in leading, with the entire group coming in the first mile in 5:30. Finally, in the last lap of the race, Dave Berger sprinted ahead and took 1st place in a time of 10:24. It is to be noted that the last lap of the race was in 60 seconds. Cherokee runners took 2nd and 3rd. Some impressives times in that race include Kevin Lanni's PR of 10:44, and Colin Kosinski's 10:45.
Just like last week, Coach Cieslik entered a few members of the distance squad into the 4x400 relay. In the JV relay, the team of Nate Burt, Max Cohler, Tim Dinh, and Dave Berger took 1st place. The splits were 0:55, 0:55, 0:59, 0:54. Overall, East Distance grabbed 12 out a possible 27 points against Cherokee. Unfortunately, the track team did not come out triumphant, and had a long walk back to the locker room. The next meet is on Monday against Eastern High School. Keep on running...
