Frosh/Soph Meet


Last Saturday, the freshman and sophomore members of the distance team traveled to Highland to participate in the exclusive Frosh/Soph meet.
In the mile, Chris Dinh finished 2nd in his heat with a time of 4:51. Scott Zhao ran an impressive personal best of 4:57 and finished 3rd in his freshman heat. Josh Elkan ran a time of 5:22 and placed 2nd in his heat. Damon Glatz placed 1st in his heat with a time of 5:28.
In the 2-mile, Tony Chen ran a nice personal best of 11:09. In the sophomore heat, Mike Liachowitz finished in 11:16. Dinh and Liachowitz also raced in the 4x400 and medaled with splits of 59 and 64 seconds.
SJ Open: Day 1
Yesterday, 6 distance runners drove down to Buena Regional High School to race in the annual South Jersey open. This is a 2 day meet, with individual races yesterday, and relay events the following Saturday. At first, the weather seemed unappealing, with harsh winds, rain, and cold temperatures. However, as the day progressed, the weather calmed into cool temperatures.
In the mile, Max Cohler finished 4th in his heat with a PR of 4:41. Tim Dinh and Kevin Lanni finished in their heat with times of 4:56 and 5:00.

In the 2-mile, John Arnold PR'd with a time of 10:06, with Dan Fuentes and Chris Dinh following behind in 10:21 and 10:24. More coverage will follow when day 2 finishes this Saturday.
Time Trial
Today, members of the team who did not race yesterday and will not be racing at day 2 of the SJ Open, participated in a half-mile time trial today at the East track. Unlike yesterday, the weather was hot and humid, with temperatures reaching the mid-70's. The race began with first lap in 64 seconds. The final times were:
Colin Kosinski - 2:17
Jason Klein - 2:19
Josh Elkan - 2:21
Mike Liachowitz - 2:21
The next meet is SJ Open: Day 2, for a select few members of the varsity squad. However, everyone will be racing this coming Tuesday against Eastern High School. Keep on moving swiftly on foot for exercise, sport, fun or necessity...
