Woodbury Relays 2008

On Saturday, the boys' and girls' teams traveled to Woodbury High School to race in the annual Woodbury Relays. This meet marked the christening of the new Woodbury High School track. What made this track different was it's square-like shape, which basically created 4 straightaways. The meet started at 9:00am, and even then the weather was hot. As the day progressed, the heat increased, with temperatures reaching 80 degrees and higher. For each event, the 1st place team recieved the famous gold wristwatch, and the following 5 finishers gained medals.

To start things off, in the Distance Medley Relay, the team of Nate Burt, Joe Epps, Max Cohler, and Dave Berger, finished with a time of 10:52. It was a challenging race for East, with Washington Township's Xavier Fraction taking the first 1200m leg out in 3:09. Although unable to move up any places during the relay, East stood their ground and finished in 3rd place, losing out to Washington Township and Cherokee. The splits were around 3:20, 0:51, 2:05, and 4:36. The girls' team placed 5th in their race.

In the 4x800m race, the team of Keith Johnson, Chris Dinh, Tim Dinh, and John Arnold finished 8th overall. The splits were around 2:09, 2:11, 2:10, and 2:10. Unfortunately, the girls' team was disqualified for dropping the baton early in the race. The next race is at home on Tuesday, where we will be racing against longtime rival Cherokee High School. As always, keep on running...
