East Vs. Pennsauken

Last night, East traveled over to Pennsauken High School to compete in a dual meet against their team. Although the distance members of Cherry Hill East track didn't have much competition at the meet, there were some impressive times from those who raced. For example:
In the 1600m race, Max Cohler led from the beginning and basically ran alone after the first 100m with a PR of 4:42. John Arnold (getting back from his illness) got 2nd and tied his best time of 4:46. Kevin Lanni followed behind in 3rd with an 8-second PR of 5:00. Freshman Tony Chen once again PR'd with a time of 5:15.

Next, in the 800m race, Nate Burt easily finished with a winning time of 2:07. Chris Dinh followed behind in 2nd with a PR of 2:13. It is to be noted that Chris also had raced the mile 15 minutes before this event. A Pennsauken runner unfortunately took 3rd, and Andrew Berger took 4th with a time of 2:15 (a PR by 1/10th of a second).
In the 3200m race, Scott Zhao and Tim Dinh took 1st and 2nd, both with a time of 11:00. This was a 9-second PR for Tim, and only Scott's 2nd race back from a stress fracture. A big highlight of the night was Mike Liachowitz's 3rd place, 44-second PR of 11:13. Scoring a point in a meet gets Mike his first ever varsity letter. In response to this huge achievment, Mike was quoted saying that there was "no magic workout" that made his race so impressive. More importantly, was that he stayed focused and raced tough.

In the 4x400m relay, splits included:
Nate Burt - 56 seconds (2nd race of the day)
Max Cohler - 58 (2nd race)
Chris Dinh - 59 (3rd race)
Tim Dinh - 58 (2nd race)
Tony Chen - 60 (2nd race)
Although not about the distance team, possibly the biggest highlight of the meet was Joe Epps' time of 51.8 seconds in the 400m race. That puts him on the East Living Legends list. Overall, the distance team scored 26 out of a possible 27 points in their events. The final score (give or take a few points) was East 80, Pennsauken 60. Congrats to everyone on their fast times and their win against Pennsauken. The next race is the Woodbury Relays on Saturday. Keep on runnin'...
