Weeks 7 & 8

On Monday, the 6th, the East Cross Country team began the week with its first threshold workout of the season. After all traveling to Richter man together, we formed into our usual groups, with Kennedy Omari aspiring to join group Sean. Team Alpha composed of Bruce, Ben, and Minion, with team omega composing of Wang, Arnold, and Warkala. All groups ran with relative success to complete the workout. Tuesday went by without much excitement, as Minion and Ben went for a longer day while most other groups stuck to the lower end. On Wednesday, the mass of people that showed up split into two groups, with a longer group going with Minion to remove the construction sign for the first time and the shorter group traveling with Bruce; although Minion’s group had a very successful run, Bruce’s group essentially was a disaster, with one member falling off by no less than 12 minutes on a very short run. On Thursday, Warkala, Wang (kind of), Sean, Bruce, Christian, and Minion traveled to GCC to complete a long run. In what turned out to be a generally successful day, Minion and Bruce easily dropped below 7 minute pace while Sean and Warkala achieved a relatively similar success. To summarize, Mother Zucker was cut off, Banana Peel, 15 miles per week, Christian is broke, pancakes, can jam; good run. On Friday, a couple of guys showed up at Haddonfield to perform some much needed easy day, soft-surface, mileage.

Now here is Minion for the subsequent week.
Last week began with a solid night of thresholds over at Richterman. Dillon and Minion formed a solid group, Arnold also had a good day, and freshman Kennedy Omari was put in his place. And thanks for 6:20 pace on the cool down, Ben. Tuesday was an uneventful morning practice, with groups of 5, 6 and 7. Wednesday was a very efficient day, as we enjoyed a nice 7 miler on the golf course over at Woodcrest Country Club, and we also managed to get that #@$% sign off of Kresson road, and Ben Dillon picked up some business along the way as well. Thursday was a great night to run, and we had ourselves a very nice 11 miler through the streets of Haddonfield with some great company in Zach Iannarellli, who had himself a much longer long run. Friday practice saw very few people in attendance, overall though it was a great week of training.

The first race is in exactly 22 days, everyone's gotta start getting focused and figuring our their goals for the season. We have a good team that can do big things this year, we just need maximum effort from everyone, as everyone's effort will be critical to the team. Also, a lot more then 7 guys should be looking to score points this year.

As always,
Keep on runnin'
