Hey ladies and gentlemen,
Tuesday afternoon marked the first race where the full "varsity line-up" ran together. The 6-man roster consisted of Ben "the bear" Helfand, Ben "school skippin'" Dillon, Jared "got my permit" Dashevsky, DJ "Millersville" Rodriquez, Ricky "seven-point-oh" Zhoa, and Zachary "awesome" Iannarelli.
Overall, the team had a mediocre showing. Leading the way was Zach with a 4th place finish, running 16:53. On his shoulder for 2 miles, DJ Rodriquez fought through a tired body on his 3rd mile and hung on to run a 17:14, snagging 9th place. Rounding out the top ten was Ricky Zhoa, sporting a smooth 17:22. After a bit of a gap, sophomore Benny Dillon ran a blue collar race, crossing the line as East's 4th man with a 17:48 (17th overall). Jared rounded out the scoring with a 22nd place finish running 18:19. Ben Helfand stayed close to Jared all race, and finished with a time of 18:26.
Overall the team was disappointed with the results, and we need to learn how to run our own race instead of adjusting to run with other teams. Cherokee and Lenape both beat us today, and we get another shot at them on Sunday at the SJ Open at Delsea, and we've definitely got some work ahead of us if we want to win sections or advance to MOCs like we've talked about. Shake yourselves boys...
As always, keep running
