On Wednesday, the JV and Freshman teams traveled to the always great Pennypacker Park for the Haddonfield Sub-Varsity Invitational. This was the last race of the season for them, and for the Seniors, the last XC race they will ever run in a East uniform.
Up first was the JV boys race. Senior Adam Rosenthal finished 3rd, running a 17:21. Junior Sean Taylor had a amazing race, running a 18:17 for 16th. Rounding out the medals for East, Senior Kevin (WALTER!) Walder had a great final race of his career, finishing 23rd with a time of 18:28. That is about 50 seconds faster than his time here last year. Way to go Walder!! Junior Matt Burt and Sophomore John (Kennedy) Warkala were 18:49 and 18:50. Sophomore Aaron Zucker had race to remember, running a 20:05.
Then was the Freshman race. Leading the way for East was Dan Helfand who ran a 17:49, and with about 400m to go caught the leader, but ran out of gas and settled for a very impressive 2nd place. Chris Mele finished very strong and got 5th running a 18:12. Lokesh Sha dipped under the 21 minute mark running a 20:58. Dor Tillenger had a great kick and ran a time of 22:19. Zach Goldstein improved his time by a lot and finished the season well running a 24:53.
Good job to everyone that raced today, especially Seniors Adam Rosenthal and Kevin Walder. Even though most of the team is finished racing, it is expected that every still attends practice until everyone on the team is finished racing.
Next race is sectionals on November 5th.
As always, Keep on runnin'.
