Last Wednesday, every memeber of the distance team went to Haddonfield Memorial High School to race in the annual distance night. As said in an earlier post, there is something about the Haddonfield track that produces great performances. For example, in the 800m, Dave Berger took 2nd, and ran an impressive best of 1:58. This was Dave's first time under 2:00. Max Cohler also had a personal record of 2:04.
In the varsity 1600m, John Arnold ran a personal best of 4:41. Scott Zhao ran a PR of 4:49. Craig Fishbein (running his first race all season after recooperating from an injury) ran a tough race in 4:52. Kevin Lanni and Tim Dinh also had bests of 4:52 and 4:53. Mike Liachowitz also PR'd with a time of 5:05.
In the freshman 1600m, Andrew Berger ran his first sub-5 minute mile in 4:59. As a witness to the event I must say it was very exciting because the Chariots Of Fire theme song was playing in the last 400m. Damon Glatz also had a best of 5:09. Shyam Bhardawaja took Coach Cieslik's advice from the previous day and toughed his race out with a huge best of 5:21.
Finally, in the 3200m, Nate Burt took 2nd place with a personal best of 10:06, with Dan Fuentes following behind in 3rd with a season best of 10:12. The next race is sectionals on Friday and Saturday. There will also be a 3200m time trial (to prepare for cross country) next Thursday. Keep on running...
