Sectionals

On Friday and Saturday, East's Varsity Track team competed at the South Jersey Group 4 State Sectionals at Egg Harbor Township High School. Through the extreme heat, several runners competed very well; others, not so much.

Joel Burt led the team on Friday in the 1600m run, winning his heat (the 2nd fastest) in 4:34. Joel placed somewhere around 7th or 8th overall. Max Cohler also ran in the 1600, as well as Colin Kosinski, who finished with a PR. Congratulations to Theresa Cattuna, for placing 4th in the 1600 to qualify for the State Group 4 Meet next Saturday.

On Saturday, Keith Johnson led the team with a time of 2:05 in the 800m. Craig Fishbein and Nate Burt also competed. Later, in the 3200m, Danny Fuentes and Dave Berger ran for the team. Neither performance was the least bit impressive. Another congratulations to Theresa Cattuna for 2nd in the 3200m, and to Alaina Chodoff for 5th in the 3200m.

For the entire boys distance team, the track season is now over. Now it's time to forget about track, as we prepare for next year's cross country season. We will start training for cross country on Sunday, June 10th (two weeks from today). Congratulations to everyone who had a good season. Let's go for the gold this fall.
