Haddonfield Invitational

On Wednesday, November 1, the athletes not competing in the Sectional Meet on Saturday traveled to Haddonfield for the annual Haddonfield Sub-Varsity Invitational. This race was the last for the athletes competing in it, and most ended the season with great performances. Also, congratulations to Andrew Baeckstrom and Jefferey Deppa who completed their journey on the Cherry Hill East Cross Country Team, with their last race as seniors. For Andrew, the race was especially important because after a year of injury, he was able to step to the line one last time, and turn in a nice performance of 21:14. Congratulations to all!

In the JV race, Jon Arnold finished 28th in a time of 18:16, just missing medaling. Not far behind him was Jason Klein, with a PR time of 18:20. He was followed closely by Kevin Lanni and Jeff Deppa who both finished with a time of 18:32. Next to finish was Tim Dinh, who unfortuneately lost his shoe early in the race, but pressed on with one shoe on the rugged course, to finish with a time of 20:48. Finally, Justin Moore, Vinoth, Vasu, and Andrew Baeckstrom finished in a pack, running times of 21:06, 21:07, and 21:14 respectively. All in all, a very successful day.

The freshman results were even more impressive. Matt Nemeroff finished with the fastest freshman time in recent history, with a 5th place finish of 18:01. Not far after him was Dan Gorenstein, who has shown huge improvement over the course of the year, and finshed with a terrific performance by running the 5k in 18:19. Just after him in 10th place was Nate Muhlberg, with a time of 18:26. To give you a basis for comparison, last year we only had 3 runners total at the Haddonfield meet with better times than these three freshman. Chris Dinh was the next finisher in 19:39, and was followed by Mike Liachowitz in 20:46, who beat a large pack of West runners.

I am writing this post in first period study hall, and now I have to go, but I will update later with the rest of the freshman times and pictures.

Keep on running-

Brandon
