Sectionals Day 2

Yesterday a few athletes from East competed, and even fewer actually qualified for the State Group IV Meet. Will Omari finished the 800m with a new PR of 2:08, while Joel and Craig finished not too far behind. Mike Adler, Dave Berger, and Danny Fuentes struggled in the 3200m, but gained valuable sectional experience that Danny and Dave will need in seasons to come. Congratulations on a great season Adler, you really proved some people wrong about what you are capable of. To all seniors - good luck in college, and hopefully you will continue to run. Congratulations to both Theresa and Alaina, who qualified for the state meet in the 3200m. Theresa also qualified in the 1600m. Good Job to ALL ATHLETES who took part in spring track this year. It was a great season, and there are great things in store for XC. For the last time this season, keep on running (after you take your two week break, of course).

While this truly sucks in so many ways, I too was screwed 20 years ago by my high school district for something not dissimilar. You just have to look past it and know that you will do great things in life and the folks who made this rash decision will still be who they are next year, the year after and the year after.

In the scheme of things, it really is a sad case for the school to entertain these shirts in the athletic room and then look down on then when it is in print. The double standard is quite evident.

When you get your sheepskin from Wharton, you'll have many opportunities that your principal and teachers never had. Use them and just know that you ain't the only one to be screwed over by a vindictive school board.

While I've got a PhD in adult education nowadays and a great career in government, I'll never forget or forgive the school board folks for what they did 20 years ago.
