Distance Banquet

I'm sure by now that all of you have heard our idea to have a "banquet" for the distance team at some point towards the end of this season. It has been a great season and it would be nice to end it in a nice way. Steve Gao is generously allowing us to use his house, which has a nice backyard area for a barbecue and a pool. He lives at 121 Saxby Terrace. Click on the link for directions.

The banquet will be held on Sunday June 11 at 4:00 PM

It would be nice if everyone could bring something to the barbecue. We will provide whatever it is we decide to cook (burgers or steaks or something), but if everyone could bring chips, soda (well... maybe not), or utensils, it would be much appreciated.

Also...

We will be giving out three "new" awards this year:

1) The Mike Levin Award- Given to the athlete of whom a single performance inspired success throughout the team.
Nominees: Mike Levin's 4:47 against Washington Township, Mike Adler's 10:23 against Lenape, Dave Berger's 4:45 against Lenape. Remember, this award does not go to the fastest athlete, it goes to a performance that "raised the bar" in a particular event.

2) The Mike Adler Award- Given to the most-improved athlete, from either cross country or winter track last year, or spring track this year.

3) The Jarrett Awards- Given to the athlete(s) whose dedication and commitment to this team have gone unnoticed. Can be given to more than one person.

We will vote on the winners of these awards electronically. Instead of creating a poll online which could be fixed, EMAIL ME YOUR VOTES AT sportscenter26@gmail.com. Tell me who you think should win each award and a brief description why if you feel so inclined. If you wish to vote anonymously, you can comment on the web page, but I'm warning you, if your nominations get ridiculous then those votes will be discounted and only those people who e-mailed me will get to vote.

I'm going to start running next Sunday or Monday. We are going to meet as a team for practice sometime during the last week of school. The XC meeting should be sometime in the coming week.
