Groundhog Day Massacre

If you can't already tell, the following was written by Mike Levin:

Under blue skies, with a cool breeze edging into the otherwise uncharacteristically warm midwinter day. The stage was set for the final meet of Winter Track, where Mike Levin would finally be able to compete head-to-head with his archnemesis, Mike Adler (who shall be known as Dino for the rest of this story). PR's would mean nothing after this race, though. Mike Levin took the pace out at a relatively comfortable 74 seconds for the first 400m, comfortably leading the pack. 800 meters came and went in a slow 2:30, and no one was willing to make a move. The race was going to come down to a kick. After a 77 second third lap, coming through 1200 meters in a horrendous 3:47, Dino took the lead. He tried in vain to open a gap on the backstretch, however Mike simply sat on his shoulder, content to let Dino finally break the headwind blowing down the track. Coming out of the last turn, Mike made his move, as usual, again calling upon his patented Finishing Kick, closing the last lap in a blazing 69 seconds to destroy Dino by a second, 4:56 to 4:57, the second time under 5 minutes for both runners. Most experts agree that head-to-head racing counts more than PR's, and we believe it too. Also, congratulations to Pete Tzeng, who set a new PR of 5:03. Also note that both underclassman teams were defeated by the Upper-class ALL STARS, highlighted by Mike Levin's amazing return to split 59 seconds in the 4X400 relay.
As always, keep on running.

Anyway, in the 800 Craig "X" Fishbein won with a time of 2:16, with Brandon Cohen in second in 2:18, followed by Eric Shin in 2:19, Steve Gao in 2:20, and Jarrett Radowitz in 2:22.

The 4 X 400m relay team of Brandon, Mike, Steve, and Jarrett defeated both the freshman and sophmore teams, despite an excellent effort by Max Cohler on the first leg and the lackluster anchor of Jarrett Radowitz.
