[Meet Tomorrow] Olympic Conference Championship

Tomorrow the East Distance team will face it's toughest challenge yet: the Olympic Conference Championship. Both the guys and girls teams have been training since June 21st, in preparation for the post-season, which finally begins tomorrow. The girls will match up against a tough Cherokee team. Cherokee is one of a handful of teams that stand between the girls team, and their quest for world domination. Just kidding. But really. They stand in the way of the girls team's quest for top 10 in the state of New Jersey, a tough task. In the guys race, the team is looking for a breakout race from sophomores Max Cohler and Danny Fuentes, as well as junior Pete Tzeng and senior Mike Adler, if the team hopes to place well against its conference rivals. After the motivational speech yesterday by Moose about legends and "cajones" (BALLS), I would like to add this stirring speech by Dan Akroyd from GHOSTBUSTERS:

"Carpe Diem! The Time is Now. Everyone I have ever met, everything I have ever said, every choice I have ever made has led me here. The elements have conspired to bring me to this place. To this very moment. Now. Now I must decide. And only I. Am I strong enough? Do I want this badly enough? Do I deserve it? Am I good enough to win? Decide now. I stand alone at the brink. Only I can choose. There is only me against myself, me against hope, against doubt, against pain. The pain. And still, the pain. The heart-wrenching failures. To lose. Lose. No I will not. Not again. I have worked too hard. I have given up everything to be here. I will not share this with anyone. Anything else they can have, but not this. This will be my moment. I have earned it. I am the toughest. I am the best. This choice is made. I want to taste victory this time. Yes. Victory. Nothing numbs pain like victory, and today is my day. I want it more than you, more than reason. You cannot have it. It is mine."
