Exert from the Courier Post-9/9
Courier Post XC Preseason Rankings:

5. Cherry Hill East
With 10 returning letterwinners, don't be surprised if the cougars snap Cherokee's long dominance in the Olympic American Division this season. Senoirs Steve Omari, Damon Glatz, Tony Chen and Scott Zhoo will form a solid pack.

I was really excited until I saw that they had spelled Scott's last name wrong.

The Cougars, No. 5 in the Courier-Post Preseason rankings, proved more than worthy of their ranking Tuesday when they defeated strong teams from Bishop Eustace and Cherokee in an Olympic Conference batch meet at Gloucester County College. Cherry East racked up a meet low of 40 points with Eustace (50) and Cherokee (83) finished in second and third placed respectively.
The Cougars will face long-time rival Cherokee again later in the season when both compete with full rosters in an Olympic Conference divisional championship meet.
Coach Matt Cieslik says the Cougars won't be able to run as many Saturday meets this season due to district financial cutbacks, so East will take full advantage of the batch meets plus limited major meets at the South Jersey Open, the Shore Coaches Invitational and the Camden County championships.
"We'll certainly practice hard and take advantage of any batch meets or major meets we can run in," said Cieslik. "We have a solid group of runners here, and they're enthusiastic about this season."
The Cougars lack a true feature runner, however, they have one of South Jersey's best packs, and will be competitive in any major meet they participate in.
Cieslik will count on seniors Tony Chen, Josh Elkham, Steve Omari, Damon Glatz and Scott Zhao along with juniors Zach Iannerelli and D.J. Rodriguez.
"We're going to go as far as our seniors take us," Cieslik said. "These guys have been together for awhile, so they know the ropes. I have no doubt they'll do well in the major meets."

Again, Courier Post manages to spell someone's name wrong. Sorry Josh "Elkham"
