Eastern & Pennsauken Duel Meets

On Monday April 19th, East hosted Eastern High School. To start off the day, East swept the 1600m, with Steve Omari winning in 4:38, followed by Scott Zhao and Tony Chen, both in 4:47. Other notable performances included Josh Elkan in 4:53, Michael Wang in 4:58 and Joey Andalora in 4:58. Congrats to both Mike and Joey for breaking 5 minutes for the first time. In the 800m, Alex Reber took first place, running a PR of 2:03. Damon Glatz and Chris Dinh took first and second place in the 3200m, running 10:13 and 10:14 respectively. Also running well were DJ Rodriguez in 10:35 and Frank Zhang in 10:41. East won its first duel meet of the season, 76 to 64.

Last Tuesday, April 27th, East earned its second win of the season against Pennsauken High School. In the 1600m, Chris Dinh, Steve Omari, and Scott Zhao swept the 1600m, running 4:53, 4:55, and 4:59 respectively. Other notable performances in the wind were run by Frank Zhang for 5th in 5:05 and Ben Helfand in 6th in 5:07. In the 800m, Marcus Phillips placed second with a time of 2:09 and Brad Krell placed third in a time of 2:10. Also running well was Tony Chen in 2:11 for fourth place. In the 3200m, Josh Elkan led most of the race but was outkicked at the end by Damon Glatz, who won the race in 10:44. Josh Elkan took second in 10:48 and Russell Beatty took third place in 11:06.
