Last Thursday, most of the team headed down to Pennypacker Park to race at the Haddonfield Sub-Varsity Invitational. On the line was a spot at Sectionals to East's first finisher. All running new PRs, the team was led by Josh Elkan, who finished in 4th place with a time of 16:58 and broke 17 minutes for the first time. Soon after came Mike Liachowitz (5th in 17:04), Tony Chen (6th in 17:05), Frank Zhang (7th in 17:08), and Russell Beatty (9th in 17:09).
Overall, 16 out of the 20 JV runners set new PRs. Other noteworthy performances include Andrew Berger's 17:45, Ben Helfand's 18:07, Sean Lowen's 18:12, Brad Krell's 18:28, Adam Green's 18:40, Kevin Walder's 19:22, Jack Pinsky's 20:58, and Dave Riches 28:01, who has improved 10 minutes since the start of the season.
In the Freshmen race, East runners were placed extremely well until they went off course. East still managed to take 3rd, 4th, 6th, and 8th in the race with Mike Minion leading the way. Setting new PRs were Sean Taylor in 20:26 and Corey Ansell in 21:28.
