Last Tuesday, Cherry Hill East faced Cherokee and Washington Township in its first duel meet of the season. Overall, East had a poor showing, losing to Cherokee 15-49 and Washington Township 22-33. Scoring for their first times on varsity were Steve Omari (13th, 17:42), Mike Liachowitz (14th, 17:46), Damon Glatz (15th, 17:49), and Zach Ianarelli (17th, 17:53). All four have improved tremendously from last year, but there is still much room for improvement. Ricky Zhao and Frank Zhang also ran noteworthy races, running 18:30 and 18:57 respectively. Freshman Michael Wong was the first freshman this season to break 20 minutes, running 19:38. Lastly, sprinter Brad Krell also broke 20 minutes, with a time of 19:59.
