This past sunday the East varsity squad traveled to Toms River to compete in the South Jersey Group 4 Sectional championships. Starting off the day for the Distance team was a very fast 1600 meter where both Nate Burt and Dave Berger finshed top 6 to move on to the Group 4 state meet next weekend. Nate Burt had his best race of the season and finshed in 5th place with a 5 second PR to run 4:29.46. Dave finshed in 6th place with a time of 4:30.12. Also running the 1600 was Freshmen DJ Rodriguez running a 3 seconds PR of 5:04. In the 800 Sean Lowen took the meaning of Running until you have nothing left to another level by running a huge Pr of 2:11 even though he blacked out 4 feet away from the finish line and than stumbled across the line loosing him about 5 or 6 seconds. The only two other athletes from east to make the State meet were High Jumpers Uchenna Njoku who took 1st and Andrew Athias who tied for 2nd.
Congrats to those who made states, those who didn't have a 3200 meter time trail on Wednesday. Its going to be a beautiful day weather wise, so it should be a great chance to run some Pr's.
Highlights from Other meets this winter..
Scott Zhao ran one of his best races ever in the 3200 meter at the Olympic Conferece meet on January 24th. He Pr'ed by 17 seconds and finshed in 6th place with a time of 10:15. Also at that Meet Dave Berger medaled in the 1600 and Craig Fishbein and John Arnold medaled in the 800.
At the Frosh/Novice meet at the Armory on January 26th Freshmen DJ Rodriguez and Zach Ianearelli both ran the 1600 in 5:10. Also at that meet Dave Berger ran 4:32, Craig Fishbein ran 4:49, Damon Glatz ran a Pr of 5:03, and Sean Lowen won his heat by about a straight away to run 5:04.
