East Vs. Washington Township

Yesterday, the Washington Township track team came to the East track to compete in what seemed to be a challenge for the East team. Although some from the team had good races, others were disappointed with the results. In the 1600m, Dave Berger won the race with the time of 4:35.5. In the 3200m, Nate Burt had a tough race and finished a close second after running a 4:50 in the last mile. To finish off the meet, Berger also ran a 53.4 in the third leg of the 4x400.

Very impressively, the underclassmen of the distance team had a great day. In the 1600m, freshman Scott Zhao opened his season with a surprisingly great first race of 5:05. Sophmore Mike Liachowitz also PR'd in the mile with a time 5:14. Freshman Josh Elkan had a respectable PR of 5:24. In the 800m, Freshman Tony Chen, had an outstanding PR of 2:16.

The next meet will be this Saturday at the Bridgeton Relays. Only the varsity runners will be participating, however, others are encouraged to come and watch. Also, next tuesday there will be a dual meet at Pennsauken High School. Congratulations to everyone who had a good race and always, keep running!
