To the annoying anonymous poster who will not shut up about site updates, here is my holiday gift to you:
Yesterday, members of the track team who were not on vacation participated in the olympic conference meet at the bubble in Tom's River. For those who decided to show up, the day was slow. Participants left for the meet at 11am and returned home around 9pm.
On a brighter note, there were some impressive races, including Dave Berger's 2nd place 1600m spot in a time of 4:37. Berger was leading the race until a dead sprint in the last 100m of the race caught him off guard. In the 800m race, Max Cohler nabbed the 2nd place spot in his heat with a time of 2:11. Finally, in the 3200m, Nate Burt took 4th, with Johnny Arnold following a few places behind with a huge PR in the 10:30's. He also PR'd in the first mile with a time of 5:05. In addition, the freshman also showed off some of their racing skills. For example, Andrew Berger ran 5:08 in the mile, and Scott Zhao ran 5:13.
Congrats to everyone who took time out of their winter break to race. Be sure to relax over this break, but remember to stay in shape for when we get back. And remember folks: anemia and mono are no laughing matter. They are serious illnesses that can consume the vulnerable. Remember to stay healthy or else risk your entire season. Happy Holidays from East Distance to you!
