Olympic Conference Championship

On Friday, the team competed at the Olympic Conference Championship. The weather conditions were less than perfect. In fact, the course was altered to a 5160m flat course through pools of mud and water to avoid the dangers of the hills. The varsity team had a bad day. In the JV race, Kevin Lanni had an 8th place finish in 18:34. His time converts to a sub-18 minute 5k, a great effort considering the inclement weather. In the freshmen race, Tyler Caton took the lead in the gardens crushed his opponents, until lousy directions and no help from the officials led him in the wrong direction, bringing most of the race with him, including other freshmen and race leaders Scott Zhao, Chris Heljak, Andrew Berger, Josh Elkan, Travis Boardman, and Damon Glatz. Were it not for the misunderstanding, the freshmen team would have dominated the race.

For the JV team, the last race of the season will be this Thursday, November 1st, at the Haddonfield Invitational at Pennypacker Park. It's a fast course, and gives everybody a chance to show what they've worked hard for. All races, including the freshmen race, run the full 5k. Good luck!

As for the Varsity team, the South division meet of the State Sectionals will be held this Saturday, November 3rd, at Delsea High School. A top 5 team spot or top 10 individual spot qualifies for the Group IV State Meet on November 10th at Holmdel Park. Good luck! It's time to show what we've worked hard all season for!
