Dear Everyone,
I would like to start by thanking EVERYONE for all their support, either vocally or emotionally. Honestly, I never would have gotten anywhere w/o all your work in this matter. This truly shows the power of the people. I never expected such a tide of public opinion for me. I am wholeheartedly touched by everyone's support from reading waht you guys have written and hearing from everyone. To be honest, I was a little teary-eyed. I never knew I had so many friends and supporters. This has truly been an enlightening and life changing experience. I am not sure how to thank you all, but this year's valedictory speech, i may have had to work hard in high school to earn this privilege, but it is all of you, who worked hard these past two days to protect that privilege on my behalf and for this, i thank you all from the bottom of my heart. I just hope i am worthy of all your support and hope my speech is deserving of such support. Once again, thank you everyone. It was truly a team effort.
Your valedictorian,
Steven Gao

sweet steve, you have your own wikipedia page
I strongly suggest that whoever wrote the Wikipedia article directly about the "Steven Gao Controversy" revise it immediately or delete it. First of all, In no way, shape, or form was the School Board involved in any part of this process. Since Steve did not have to formally appeal to the board, the board's will carried no weight in any decisions. Secondly, the article is severely biased. We do not need any negative feelings to harbor around this issue any more than they will naturally. This event will be remembered for a long time, but this is not how we want it remembered.

hey guys sorry couldnt figger out where to leave this, i am going to be a freshman and might switch from soccer to XC. who can i talk to?
My name is Brandon Cohen. Along with Mike Levin, we run this site. Feel free to call me at 609-332-2486 or e-mail us at eastdistance@gmail.com
thanks brandon will call if i decide, i am catching a lot of flack from my friends about it so i am not sure (it's nothing against XC, but weve been playing soccer together since elementry school). but cool that you keep this updated, sounds like a cool team.
Soccer player,
Obviously I am biased towards cross country, but here is the main reason why people usually switch from soccer to xc:
While as a freshman there is a "freshman" soccer team, as you get older it becomes very competetive and most people do not play a lot, so they switch to xc where they are able to participate in every single meet. They also want to play a sport that takes balls, not just one that plays with them. Good luck with whatever you decide to do
oh you dont need to convince me, i think i prolly better at running than soccer anyways (i can run a mile in 4:54 and the half-mile in 2:13), i just need to think of the social implicattions.
Ok, if you can run a 4:54 then you absolutely must run cross country. I'm not telling you to leave your friends, but you will have unbelievable success in cross country, and probably be one of the top freshman in South Jersey if you stick with the program. I know that it is hard to leave your friends, but you will still be going to school with them and its not like cross country will take over your life. I know this is a hard decision for you, but I hope that you make the right decision. Good luck!
Brandon
