Cherry Hill West Dual Meet

Despite a successful season for the distance squad, the track team as a whole had yet to win a dual meet yet this season. That all changed when we traveled back in time to the West side to face perennial rivals Cherry Hill West. The meet was a tremendous success, as the team did not only win, but we also took 25 out of a possible 27 distance points. Mike Levin got things rolling with a first place in the 1600m with a PR of 4:43. Mike Adler came in second with another PR time of 4:44, followed by Dave Berger who after holding of a strong surge by a West runner was forced to accept 4th by means of questionable officiating. Congratulations to Pascal Kriete who ran under 5 minutes for the first time with a time of 4:59. Jason Klein followed in a time of 5:14, followed by Jeffery Deppa in 5:30.

In the 800m, Craig Fishbein came from behind to win in a time of 2:11. Joel Burt managed to hold on to second place despite a strong challenge from behind from his archnemesis from West, Jo-el in 2:12. Brandon Cohen and Jesse Herrmann followed in 2:16.

In the 3200m, Wilfred "9:50" Omari took first place in 10:34, followed by Danny Fuentes in 10:52, Max Cohler in 10:53, and Pete Tzeng in 10:54. Colin Kosinski ran 11:03.

The "highlight" of the meet according to Coach Cieslik was the distance 4x400m relay of Craig Fishbein, Brandon Cohen, Jesse Herrman, and Joel Burt. There are conflicting reports of all type regarding our splits and overall time, but let's just say that despite Joel's pathetic excuse for a handoff we still managed to achieve our goal of 3:55. There was a short-lived rumor that Jesse ran a 57, but that rumor was dismissed when we learned that he had started the rumor himself. Either way, it was certainely and impressive showing.

All in all it was a very successful day. Now we look forward to the Haddonfield Twilight Invitational on Wednesday, and Sectionals next weekend. Also, stay tuned for the date of the Distance Banquet.
