[Meet] Cherokee and West

Today we had a race against Cherokee and West, but before we go any further, we at Eastdistance.blogspot.com would like to express our sincere thanks to Meredith Mills for hosting the psych party at her house last night. The spaghetti was delicious, and we had a lot of fun.

Now, getting to the meet. Today we raced Cherokee, the #2 ranked team in South Jersey. Going into the race, the team realized that if they ran tough, they had a chance to upset the Chiefs. Mike Levin, the #1 runner for East, knew that he would need a banner day in order for the upset to occur. Although Mike ran a personal best of 17:35, a full 1 minute 13 seconds faster than his last race on the Gloucester "B" course, the upset was not to be. Despite capturing 6th place overall in the race of over 80 people, the rest of the Cherokee team was just too much for East to handle. Despite the loss, many runners set personal bests, many of almost a minute. In the girls race, Theresa Cattuna won with a time of 19:11, beating a tough Cherokee team anchored by Lisa Burkholder. Nice job Theresa. Pictures of the meet can be found below. Our next race is Saturday, October 1st. The Shore Coaches Invitational will be East's first race at famed Holmdel Park, the tough state course. Good luck, and Keep on Running.

The girls also became Olympic Conference Champions today with a perfect duel meet record of 6-0. Congratulations!

A picture of Levin recalling how he kicked Cherokee's asses:

"and then I flexed my massive biceps, and they trembled in fear...The race was over from the start"
