East Vs. Cherokee

PICTURES

Yesterday, East took on the powerful Cherokee team, on the home track. The most exciting part of the meet was the distance team's performance, with their shockingly strong effort. Despite the track team losing against Cherokee 53-86, the distance team grabbed a total of 16 out of a possible 27 points (East 16- Cherokee 11). To start things off in the 1600m race, Dave Berger toughly finished in 1st with a PR time of 4:42. Following Dave in 3rd was Max Cohler, with a PR of 4:48, and Pete Tzeng with a PR of 4:52. A special congrats to Colin Kosinski, for after years of trying, has finally broken the BIG 5, with a PR of 4:58. Also, Kevin Lanni respectively ran a PR of 5:18. Congrats to Dave and Max, who both qualified for the SJ Open.

Next, in the 800m, Craig Fishbein finally showed his true speed by taking the first place spot, in a PR time of 2:04! Craig's race was possibly the most impressive of the season. Nate Burt also toughened up and ran a PR of 2:09. Craig also has qualified for the SJ Open.

In the 3200m, Joel Burt ran his first 2 mile of the season with a great 1st place time of 10:17. Following behind was Dan Fuentes who almost got 3rd place, but got outkicked at the end in a PR of 10:23. Brothers, Tim and Chris Dinh also had PR's. Both Dan and Joel have qualified for the SJ Open. Congrats to the team for running tough, smart races, and finally giving Cherokee a taste of their own medicine. Get ready for Eastern on Monday!
